John Cox, a Chicago CPA, investor, and past president of the Cook County (which is the most Democratic county in the nation) Republican Party, announced in March, 2006, that he is pursuing the Republican nomination for President in 2008. [2] He ran unsuccessfully in Republican primaries in Illinois, for the House in 2000 and for the Senate in 2002.
